Rivals & news
Rival stables, head-to-head records, your nemesis, and the racing news.
Racing is more fun with names in it. The stables you keep running into become your rivals, the horse that keeps pipping yours becomes your nemesis, and the racing news tells everyone what happened on the track, as soon as it is public.
Rivals
A close finish is two runners within a length (2.4 m) of each other at the line. A stable becomes your rival when your horses have finished close to theirs at least 3 times in Live races over the last 28 days. Rivals are ranked by close finishes, then by how often you met, then by the most recent meeting; the top 3 show on your Estate and on your stable page.
- Head-to-head: meetings, who finished ahead (your best runner against theirs), close finishes and the last meeting with its replay.
- Horse against horse: the same record for each of your horses against each of theirs.
- Your nemesis: the other stable’s horse that has beaten yours in close finishes most often (at least 2 times). On a racecard it carries a Nemesis tag, and runners from your rival stables carry a Rival tag.
- Every stable has a public page; when you are signed in it shows your record against them.
After a race, once the result is on screen, you may see a line such as “You beat Thistle Mead’s Copper Comet for the first time in 4 meetings”. Nothing about a race counts until its broadcast is over, so a rival line can never give a result away.
Bring a rival
You don’t have to wait for the track to find you a rival. Open Bring a rival and send your link to a friend. When they found a stable through it, the two of you are rivals straight away: each Rivals panel shows the other at the top, marked “You invited …” or “… invited you”, and your head-to-head fills in as your horses meet in Live races.
The welcome live from the rules
- Credits for each of you
- 300, once
- Per new stable
- Once: a stable can only be invited once
- Inviter's welcomes
- Up to 5 new rivals a week (your friends always get theirs)
- Linked accounts
- Still rivals, no welcome
Accounts that share a browser, a wallet or an email are linked, as on the market: they still become rivals, but neither gets the welcome. The welcome is Stable Credits only; it is never paid in T-USDG and credits are never cashed out. Inviting changes nothing else: the same link still counts for the beta’s invite programme as before.
The racing news
The news is written from facts the moment they happen: at settlement, a sale or the end of a season. An item about a race appears only once that race’s broadcast has finished. Each kind of item has 3 or more ways of being written, and an item always reads the same.
| News item | Templates |
|---|---|
| A Feature or Season Final winner | 3 |
| A horse's first win at Listed level or above | 3 |
| A photo-finish (a nose, a short head or a head) in a Listed, Group or Feature race | 3 |
| The richest race settled so far | 3 |
| The season's champion stable, when a season ends | 3 |
| The top of each League table in the season's last week | 3 |
| An apprentice riding out the claim | 3 |
| A jockey announcing retirement | 3 |
| A jockey retiring | 3 |
| A jockey signing for a new stable in the weekly transfer window | 3 |
| A sale on the market of 2,000 credits or more (the price is public) | 3 |
| A horse claimed out of a claiming race | 3 |
| A Hall of Fame entry | 3 |
The My stable tab keeps only items involving your horses, your jockeys and your rivals. A horse’s improver step is not news: it shows only on its owner’s career page. See also Hall of Fame & trophies and Jockeys.
